Chapter
29: Back From Honeymoon
Before she could react,
Jack had scooped her up until she rested against his bare chest. Too late, Sue realized what Jack wanted to do and tried to
wriggle free but he held on more tightly and kept walking. At that moment her feet touched the water.
Sue: Put me down, Hudson or you will be in so much trouble. I’ll make you pay for this. (lighthearted smile
and teases Jack)
Jack: Oh, I’d like to see you pay me back for what
I’m about to do. I’ll put you down. (megawatt smile, laughs, and raise eyebrows)
Sue: You asked for it, dear. You want to play mean, I can
play mean. (lighthearted smile and laughs)
Jack: Bring it on, sweetheart. Just so you know; you’re
going to have to admit defeat. I’ll put you down right here. Watch this. (megawatt smile, laughs, and his signature
wink)
Just then Jack released her
and she hit the water with a splash. It was no more than three feet deep and the water in fact was warm. But the instant she
managed to get on her feet, she brushed her soaking wet hair out of her eyes and plotted her revenge. Sue went under the water
surface and aimed for his knees. She took Jack by surprise and managed to knock him off his feet. Satisfied that she won this
round; she surfaced just as he stood up sputtering.
Jack laughed and then came
after her to splash them both with more water. Sue stood up and ran to the shore but Jack was quicker. He caught her right
away and carried her back to the ocean and sank down in the water to his shoulders, holding Sue tightly against his chest.
His eyes held hers as he lowered her slowly to her feet and took a handful of water to splash Sue squarely in the face. Back
and forth they played with the water swirling around them.
He held her snugly against
him and touched a finger to her lips a minute before he covered his mouth with hers. Another hour went by before they had
enough and both got out of the water. Jack wrapped a towel around her shoulder and another towel around himself.
Once they
were dried, Jack and Sue walked along the gorgeous beach holding hands. Because of the sun, the sand is scorching hot as they
walk without their flip-flops. At that time, Jack swept Sue into his arms
and carried her back to their suite. He ordered room service and they spent the rest of the day in their suite.
Jack reached out with
fingers that trembled slightly. Her soft lips yielding to his and her mouth opening in sweet welcome as Jack explored with
his tongue. Sue looped her arms around his neck, her fingers tangled in his hair.
His gaze locked with hers at the same time she caressed his cheek until their
lips met.
Jack
eased onto the bed with Sue beside him. Jack pressed another kiss on her mouth. He held her as each wave of completion shook
her and she trembled with aftershocks. Jack stroked her hair with a gentle hand
and rested his cheek against hers until her breathing steadied into a normal rhythm. Sue
buried her face in his neck and nestled against him. With her eyes fluttering closed, he kissed her tenderly, and they fell
asleep in each other’s arms.
The
next day, the sun glistened upon the crystal-clear blue water and white sandy beaches. Jack on board a chartered boat scans
the horizon for any sign of the delightful creatures. Then suddenly out of nowhere, he sees their smooth gray dorsal fin breaking
the surface of the water.
He
looks over at Sue watching the dolphins with fascination. Looking down along the edge of the boat’s bow as it meets
the sapphire-blue ocean, the dolphins materialize. Swaying from side to side, they appear to smoothly glide alongside the
boat. It is a thrilling spectacle just watching these dolphins breach completely out of the water and take in a breath.
These
magnificent dolphins playfully frolic in the ocean, pirouette around each other and occasionally turning on their sides, appearing
to look at Jack & Sue with curiosity. Then the boat makes one final turn and slows down as the dolphins leap off for their
final wave.
Watching
this magical moment unfold, Jack’s heart seem to stand still. Their eyes locked on each other, her dazzling smile strikes
him with rapture. But all too soon, the dolphins dives underwater, breaks the surface once more to sway alongside the boat’s
bow and in a moment the dolphins disappear from view.
This
day is forever etched in his mind. Jack and Sue spend two spectacular weeks in paradise before reality slowly sets in and
they are back in the real world.
