After they all left, and the house was quiet again. Jack led the way upstairs to the nursery. He covered her
eyes, opened the door, and ushered Sue inside. When Sue looked around the room and saw that everything was completed. She
was overjoyed and very emotional. Tears started falling down her face and Jack just held her in his arms. He whispered soothing
words to her. Sue gazed up at him and kissed him. She told him without words how much she loves him.
Jack: I take it you like my surprise. The baby room turned out quite good, if I do say so myself. I did most of the
work, although the guys helped out somewhat. (megawatt smile and his signature wink)
Sue: I am touched and very impressed. Thank you for the baby shower and for all this. I know the twins are going
to love their room. (glowing smile)
Jack: I’m glad. Now you need to get to bed. You must be exhausted. (megawatt smile)
Sue: From doing what? You haven’t let me work more than a couple of hours cleaning around the house. And I’m
on maternity leave from the bureau. You don’t let me do anything remotely physically demanding. I took a walk around
the block three times this week, and you got scared. So how can I be tired? (dazed smile)
Jack: Our twins and you are my first priority. I mean, they are due pretty soon. I don’t want you to take any
chances. But I will try not to hover as much from now on. Do we have a deal? (megawatt smile and his signature wink)
Sue: Okay. We have a deal. You know, I always have my Blackberry with me at all times. Believe me; I want to go into
labor. (laughs) The twins can’t
get here fast enough for me. Otherwise, I might be tempted to strangle my overprotective
yet wonderful and incredibly sweet, easy-on-the-eyes, loving husband.
(lighthearted smile, laughs, and teases Jack)
Jack: Ouch. You hurt my feelings. (laughs) You know that I’m doing this only because I want you and our babies
to be safe. (megawatt smile and raise eyebrows)
Sue: Yes, I know. That is the only reason why I’m letting you get away with this. (laughs) You’re almost as bad as my mother worrying about me all the time. But I love you just the same. (glowing smile
and teases Jack)
Jack: Okay. I’ve learned my lesson. I promise not to crowd or hover over you anymore. (laughs) Now let’s
go to bed. You know I read that babies like things that stimulate them while they spend their time lying in their cribs on
their backs looking up at the ceiling. (megawatt smile, gives her his signature wink, and lost in thought)
Sue: That will be the day. Your mom told me the same thing when she called to check up on me the other day. So what
are you up to now? (radiant smile, laughs, and teases Jack)
Jack: What makes you think I’m up to something? (megawatt smile, laughs, and raise eyebrows)
Sue: You’re not fooling me, Jack. Tell me or you’ll be sleeping on the couch. (lighthearted smile, laughs,
and teases Jack)
Jack: I have another idea for the nursery. I don’t know why I didn’t think of it before. But I’ll
let you in on my secret once it’s done. It’s bedtime for us. (megawatt smile and his signature wink)
Jack wants a mural painted on the
ceiling so his twins can look up at the ceiling in their nursery. The next morning, he calls Chris and got a number of a friend
of his who is an artist. Chris’s friend would be happy to paint a mural for Jack. Jack calls him up and discusses what
the mural should look like. He agrees to drive up from South Carolina this weekend and bring the necessary supplies to paint
the mural. On Saturday morning, Sue is still asleep. Jack helps Mack Banning bring the paint supplies up to the nursery.
He sketches the painting exactly the way Jack
wants it to be done. Since it took the whole day, Mack is coming back tomorrow to finish it. On Sunday, Mack Banning comes
over and painted the mural on the ceiling. Jack loves the ceiling mural so much that he asks Mack to paint two more murals
for the playroom with a different design. Mack agrees to do the job and he also suggests to Jack a mural could be painted
in the master bedroom if Jack would like one done. Mack said he will be back next weekend to finish the wall murals for the
playroom.
The mural on the ceiling was custom designed by Jack and hand-painted by Mack Banning with
a theme of a smiling yellow sun and a sleeping crescent moon taking a nap on top of a fluffy cloud. It also features a cluster
of fifty yellow stars with angels keeping watch over them around the room, surrounded by soft, wispy white clouds with hearts
floating down everywhere.
Hand painted lettering over the windowsill saying;
“You
are my sun, moon, and stars. You will always be my little angel. You have my heart forever. The
clouds play peek-a-boo when it sees your sweet smile”.
In
the play room on the right-side wall, the mural features a hidden castle in a distant land with a colorful rainbow that overlooks
a lake. The little girl goes to take a closer look at the pink castle and a hand painted Golden Retriever patiently waits
next to a tree for his master to return. While an adorable pink bunny rabbit frolic next to his lettuce patch. A pretty white
picket fence adorned with hand painted soft green garland leaves, white daises, one dozen pink baby roses and blue Forget-Me-Nots.
This design also features butterflies fluttering about
nearby alongside a small garden path. And up above an adventurous little boy takes flight in his colorful red, white, and
blue biplane with an American flag waving side to side to finish off this wall mural. On the left-side wall of the play room,
this mural features the wonderful world of Winnie The Pooh and friends. There is an
old oak with a tree-house that says “Girls,
Not Allowed” with a little teddy bear boy sitting inside the tree-house. This design also features
colorful birds chirping, two other teddy bears singing, and a mom and baby kangaroo jumping around. Pooh and Piglet are walking
towards the enchanted 100-acre forest. It is a bright, sunny warm spring day.
This completed wall mural also features
a house next door. A father with his little boy is out in the front yard holding hockey sticks. And the dad patiently gives
his son instructions on how to play the game. A mother with her little girl is out in the backyard picking flowers from their
little garden.
