Epilogue: Life With Twins
Six-week postnatal checkup, Sue
and Jack get ready to put their twins down for the night. She kissed her son on his head and placed him in his crib. At the
same time, Jack kissed his daughter on her head and placed her in her crib. Jack checks
on Joshua, while Sue checks on Hailey.
Jack and Sue gaze at them as their eyes drift close and off to dreamland
they go. Thank goodness separation anxiety will not occur for several more months. But just the
same, Sue knows it’s going to be extremely difficult to tear herself away from them and go back to work.
After making sure the baby monitor was turned on, with its multiple receiving
units placed in each room. New proud parents gently closed the nursery door.
Jack: Now, that we’ve put our twins to bed. And it’s about time to put you to bed, Mrs. Hudson. (megawatt
smile and teases Sue)
Sue: Sounds like a plan to me. (radiant smile and teases Jack)
Jack: Good. Then maybe we can go flying. (megawatt smile and raise eyebrows)
Sue: Planning on taking me somewhere? (curious smile and teases Jack)
Jack: Oh yeah. If I could I would reach up to the stars and place them at your feet. But since I don’t know
how to do that, you’ll just have to settle for second best. Me. (megawatt smile and gives her his signature wink)
Sue: Reciting more poetry. You will always be my favorite. I love you Jack Hudson. (radiant smile)
Jack: I love you more Mrs. Hudson. And I have plans to show you just how much. Wait and see, my darling. (megawatt
smile and his signature wink)
Sue: I like the sound of that. Let’s hurry before the twins wake up. (radiant smile and teases Jack)
Jack met Sue outside their bedroom door and as he looked at her, he still felt that
same stirring in his gut. He leaned over and touched his lips to her mouth slowly at first. As she rose on her toes to meet
him halfway, he deepened their kiss. In the next moment, he swept her into his arms and opened their door.
Very slowly ran his hand along her cheek, and then he cupped the back of her head
and brought his mouth down on hers. His arms went around her as he laid her on the bed. He lingered a moment kissing the curve
of her neck and then moved to her collarbone. All the while, sending shivers down her spine. Sue laced her arms around his
neck. She loved the feel of his hard chest pressed against her.
Her heart was hammering and she surrendered to his touch. He framed her face with
his hands and lowered his mouth to kiss her lips softly and gently. The dance brought them to a place that was miles beyond
anything either of them ever experienced before.
When the afterglow descended, he gathered her into his arms and pulled the blanket
over them. Sue closed her eyes, lost in sensations that just begun to settle all over her. He waited until the world stop
spinning around and they both fell asleep.
As expected, Joshua and Hailey
want their mommy at two a.m. and of course Jack woke Sue up.
Sue sat in the rocking chair and feeds
each baby until they went back to sleep. Jack stood at the doorway watching his family. Once they put their twins back in
their cribs, Jack and Sue tiptoed out of the nursery.
He brought his mouth down on hers and gave his wife a tender kiss. Jack wrapped his arms around her and held
her for a long moment. Then he led her back to their bedroom so they can get some shuteye before their next baby feeding.
Sue looked at Jack and her heart has never felt so full. Because of Jack’s incredible love for her and
their adorable twins; she would always feel safe, protected, and happy. Jack kissed her thoroughly to let her know he felt
the same way.
It was a kiss filled with passion, promises, and
endless possibilities for their future. Who knows?
One or two years down the road, The
Hudson’s might add more children to their ever growing family tree. Because Jack always wanted to have a house full of kids, enough to make their own hockey team.
