Chapter
29: THe First Dance
By
now, all the guests have arrived
and anxiously await the bride and groom. Bobby sees them and goes up to the microphone stand to announce their arrival. Everyone
applauds with champagne glasses ready to toast Jack & Sue as they enter.
Bobby: Now entering for the first time as husband and wife, please welcome
Jack and Sue Hudson. What took you so long, did you decide to take the scenic route to get here? (smile and laughs)
Jack: We had more wedding pictures to take. So, what are we waiting for?
Let’s get this party started. (megawatt smile)
The six-course dinner menu was delicious. At their reception, two hours later, Jack held out his hand for his
first dance with his bride. Her eyes went all soft and dreamy as she placed her hand in his.
Bobby goes up to the microphone stand, being Jack’s
best man he makes the first toast. “Here’s
to the happy couple. I’m proud to call them mates. I believe you have met your match with Sue. Come to think of it,
he never had a chance. Jack was hooked long before Sue landed her man today. Live in love all the days of your lives and may
there be years of happiness ahead for these two lovebirds”. The
crowd erupted with cheers and tapped glasses with one another.
Jack’s Dad: I’d
like to propose another toast. To my son and my daughter-in-law: To new beginnings, bright futures, and a lifetime of love.
A house is only a home when you share it with someone you love. (smile)
The
band started playing the intro to “The Wedding March”. It was time for the first dance as husband and wife. With that said; Jack and Sue slowly waltzed
around the room. Together, their steps were graceful and fluid. As they danced, Bobby serenades them with “Blue
Hawaii”.It goes like
this: Night and you/ And blue Hawaii/The
night is heavenly/ And you are heaven to me/Lovely you/ And blue Hawaii/ With all this loveliness/ There should be love/Come
with me/ While the moon is on the sea/ The night is young/ And so are we, so are we/ Dreams come true/In blue Hawaii/ And
mine could all come true/ This magic night of nights with you.
Jack
pulled her into his arms taking care to not step on her wedding gown. His hand splayed across her back, sent currents of electricity
through her. He traced her lips lightly with his fingertips before covering her mouth with hers. Her lips
clung to his and drew him in as the world faded away. It was like being lost in heaven on their wedding day. Sue touched a
hand to his cheek and whispered “I love you”. Then Jack kissed her gently, saying “I love you” with
only his kiss. It was a kiss filled with promise of what was to come.
They danced twice more before Sue’s dad asked Jack to step aside so he could dance with his daughter.
After that, Jack’s dad asked Jack to step aside so he could dance with his daughter-in-law. In the meantime, Jack dances
with his mom; it was a very special moment for mother and son. Jack also asks his mother-in-law to dance with him. Sue’s
mom couldn’t be happier with her son-in-law, beaming with pride as Jack twirled her around the dance floor.
Bobby: Since I’m your best man, I get to dance with Sue. I think
it’s only fair considering I had to wear a tux today. (smile and laughs)
Jack: Oh alright. But just one dance and don’t forget that Sue is
all mine, Crash. (megawatt smile and laughs)
Bobby: No chance of that. Sue only has eyes for you buddy. (smile and laughs)
Bruce: Hey, Jack is it okay if I steal a kiss from the bride? (smile and
teases Jack)
Jack: No way. You are not getting anywhere near my wife. (megawatt smile
and teases Bruce)
Bruce: Being part of your wedding party should allow me a dance with the
bride. (smile and teases Jack)
Jack: Alright. I guess if Bobby is allowed to dance with Sue. You, Trent,
and Chris should have a chance as well. But I’m warning you all; I will be watching you three like a hawk. (megawatt
smile and teases his groomsmen)
Now, Jack
is surrounded by three little girls, Sarah, Grace, and Jenny. They all want to dance with the groom. He happily obliges; he
has Jenny on his hip and dances with her. With one hand securely holding Jenny on his hip, and his other free hand, he take
turns to dance with Sarah and Grace, alternating between the two girls. Sarah and Grace are having the time of their life
dancing around and around with Jack in the middle. After dancing with Bobby, Bruce, Trent, and Chris; Sue does not see Jack
but she bumps into Emma.
