Chapter 28: The Ring
Sue:
Oh, is that…I mean, well is that what I think it is? Are you serious? (surprised smile, laughs, happy tears)
Jack:
I’ve never been more serious in my life. Are you okay? (megawatt smile
and his signature wink)
Sue:
Uh, would you mind repeating your question one more time? (lighthearted smile)
Jack: Absolutely. Signing & Speaking- Sue Thomas, Will you marry me for the next 50 years? Not
to rush you or anything darling, but my knee is about to fall asleep. (megawatt smile, laughs, and his signature wink)
Sue:
Signing- I’m sorry. Speaking- Oh mi gosh! It’s just…wow! You caught me off guard. This is so awesome and
totally unexpected. I can’t even think straight at the moment. (lighthearted smile, laughs, happy tears)
Jack:
Is that a Yes or No? You haven’t given me an answer yet. And you’re making me a little nervous. Signing &
Speaking- Say yes, Sue. Say yes. (megawatt smile, laughs, and his signature wink)
Sue:
Signing & Speaking- YES! Of course, I’ll
marry you. Absolutely! I want to be your wife more than anything in this world, Jack Hudson. And I’m never taking this
ring off my finger! (radiant smile, laughs, and happy tears)
The engagement ring is a princess-cut
solitaire diamond set in a gold band with two heart-shaped diamonds on either side. The diamond ring sparkles under the moonlight
like stars shimmering in the night sky; casting a beautiful glow around them.
Sue thinking: I have always
wanted a ring exactly like this but never in a million years did I ever expect to be wearing this gorgeous ring on my finger.
This is a million times better than my wildest dreams hoping that Jack would propose to me. Now it’s come true. Oh mi
gosh! I cannot wait to spend my life with Jack.
Sue: This is all too much for a small-town girl from the Midwest. This is so incredible, my ring, all my wonderful presents, your proposal on a
dinner cruise no less. What did I do to deserve you? I honestly don’t know. But I am going to make you as happy as you’ve
made me today, tomorrow, and always. I promise you that. I love you very much, Jack Hudson. (radiant smile, laughs, and happy tears)
Jack: My
darling, Sue. You deserve nothing but the best and that’s what you get from me. Every day for the rest of our lives, I promise you that. After all, you’re my
pot of gold. And you are the most beautiful woman in the world to me and you always will be. (megawatt smile and his signature
wink)
During this time, a CD of their Greatest Love Songs
is played in the background. The first song they danced under the moonlight to is: “When
You Say Nothing At All”. With
his arms wrapped around her waist; Jack said the sweetest words every woman longs to hear from her man and then he covered
her mouth with his in a tender kiss.
Jack:
I’m marrying my best friend; I can’t think of anything better than this moment. Can you? (megawatt smile and his
signature wink)
Sue: No, I can’t because you have made every dream of mine come true. You’re
the other half of my soul, the missing piece of my heart. Wait a minute. I have a bone to pick with you...How come you only plan on spending the next 50 years with me? (lighthearted
smile, laughs, and teases Jack)
Jack: Did I say that? Let me rephrase; I plan on spending the next 100 years with you by my side. What do you think about that, soon-to-be Mrs. Hudson? (megawatt smile and his signature wink)
Sue:
Signing- Champ! Speaking- I wouldn’t have it any other way, Jack darling. Come to think of it, Sue Hudson has a certain
ring to it, don’t you think? (dazzling smile)
Jack:
I couldn’t agree with you more, sweetheart. Shall we dance? (megawatt smile and his signature wink)
Sue:
It would my pleasure to dance with my soon-to-be-husband. By the way, when is our wedding date? (lighthearted smile)
