Chapter 3: The Informant
Jack: I agree with you. Get a sketch artist to draw a composite picture and fax it over to me. I will have my team
start a search for her right away.
The fax beeps and Jack looks at the picture of the girl. She looks like a baby, not ready to face
the big bad world out there. Jack and the rest of the team spread out canvassing the neighborhood all day but there’s
no one fitting the description of the girl in question. It is nightfall, there’s nothing the team can do at this moment.
Jack tells everyone to go home and be ready to start another search in the morning. The next morning, Jack and Sue
talks to Howie Jack:
Hey Howie. What are you selling now? (smile) Howie: Jack and Sue, my favorite
FBI couple. Good to see you too Levi. What brings you to my neighborhood? Oh, I’m not selling anything. Sue: Howie, we’re not here
to bust you. We need your help. Howie: I’m your guy. By the
way, this DVD player is really cool. You should buy one for yourself, Jack. Jack:
Thanks for the tip, Howie. I’ll be sure to keep that in mind for my Christmas list. Have you heard anything about Vincent
Chambers, where he went? Howie: I know enough about Vincent
Chambers to not want to know anything more. He is a really bad guy. Why are you looking for him? Jack:
He is a wanted man. He seemed to vanish into thin air when Metro PD raided a nightclub the other day. You call us if you hear
anything about Vince, okay? Howie: Sure thing, Jack. The minute
I see him around, I’ll call you. Jack:
Good. One other thing, Howie. Have you seen any underage prostitutes around here? Do you know where they might hang out?
Sue: Howie. We need information
about a 15 year old girl. This is what she looks like. It’s very important that we find her. She could be in a lot of
trouble. Howie: No I haven’t seen this
girl. I swear if I did, I would tell you. Jack:
You call me on my cell phone when you spot her. Do I make myself clear, Howie? Howie: Loud and clear, Jack. I’ll
keep my eyes and ears peeled to the street looking for her. You have my word. Sue: Thanks, Howie. We have to get
back to the office. Remember to call us if you have any new information. Back at the bullpen Bobby: So did Howie give you any
new leads on finding the girl on the videotape? Sue: Nope. Nobody on the street
would tell us anything. Garrett: What is the latest on MJR Consulting? When will you be ready to take them down? D: We probably need a couple of
days to complete our investigation. Then Jack will take the case to Marty Parvone. Garrett: Good. Keep me informed.
We have never had the chance to catch Alfonso Del Marco until now. Diane calls Jack and tells him what she learned from Tommy Cortez. Tommy says, he was in the candy store and Vincent Chambers was the trigger man. We still don’t have motive for murder. Vincent Chambers told Tommy to steal money from the cash register to make it look like a robbery gone bad. According to Tommy, there was a little girl in the candy store and a woman waiting outside for her. She might have witnessed the murder of Mr. Brinkman.
The woman burst through the door after she heard the gunshot to check on her kid and Mr. Brinkman. Vincent and Tommy fled out the back door and dump the contents in the trash can. Within a few hours, Freddy Miller was caught by the police. Tommy mentioned someone named “Viper”. He never met the guy, but apparently “Viper” and Vincent Chambers are good buddies. Turns out, “Viper” is the owner of King Cobra Nightclub and Vincent runs the place for him. How’s that for a story? Of course, this is just hearsay coming from Tommy. We don’t have anything linking “Viper” to the teenage prostitution and child pornography ring. Tommy may be telling the truth or feeding me lies, so he can cut a deal. What do you think? Jack: Tommy has a really vivid imagination
if he’s lying to you. If not, we better find the little girl in the candy store that day. I don’t want to think
about what might happen to the little girl if “Viper” finds her before we do. Diane: So I’m not crazy. And
I’m also back to square one. Not to mention a whole host of new suspects I didn’t have before this investigation
began. Jack: You’re the least crazy
person I know. I’ll have Tara find out about “Viper”. Any luck on finding Vincent Chambers? Diane: Depends on what you mean
by luck. Two patrolmen found a body floating in the river. The autopsy confirms that it was Vincent Chambers. He was stabbed
14 times. We are still looking for the knife. Jack: Someone tipped off “Viper”
and Vincent gets killed. Who and Why? Diane: More than likely his boss,
or someone higher up on the ladder that we aren’t even aware of. I don’t know. Any luck finding the girl on the
videotape? Jack: So far she’s been a
no-show on the streets. We have snitches out there looking for her. I’ll call you as soon as I hear anything else. Diane: I would appreciate that.
Back to work; I’m going to find the missing little girl who could unlock this case. Tommy said, “The little girl
had a pink dress and pink bows on her hair. She must love the color pink”. He didn’t get a good look at the mother.
She may be a redhead or brunette for all I know. And I bet he won’t be able to pick her up out of a line up either.
He was too busy running away from the crime scene. I’ll start a search for them right away. Jack: Good idea. Keep me in the
loop. Bye, Diane. Tara: Guys, I think I found something.
I’ve been going over all the files that Emma brought to our attention. It seems Greg Morgan had an off-shore account
in the Cayman Islands he didn’t want anyone else to know he had. And $100,000 was put in his account four months ago. There is also a meeting with A.J.; below are the words--service rendered. Jack: Can you find out the mysterious
A.J. and see if he connects directly to Morgan and Del Marco? Tara: I’m already on it. And
I will ask Emma to see if the name A.J. rings any bells. Myles: I’m afraid I have some
bad news. That was SOG on the phone. They had been following Del Marco’s limo but were afraid of being made so they
backed off. Consequently, Del Marco has disappeared. SOG has not been able to find him. D: The good news. We have enough
to bring charges against Greg Morgan. Do you want to bring him in and turn up the heat? Morgan might know where Del Marco
is hiding? Bobby: He could also tell us about
his meeting with A.J. Jack: Alright. Take down MJR Consulting.
He better hope he plays ball well, because I’m not in a good mood right now. |
