Chapter 28: Commence Wedding Plans
Sue: One thing that concerns me is that one of us is going
to have to transfer out of the unit and that is likely going to be me. I love my job and I love being your partner. I don’t
want that to change but I’m afraid of what Garrett is going to say when he finds out about our engagement. (concern
smile)
Jack: It’s funny you should say that. Garrett and
I had a long meeting about the two of us. He called me into his office three weeks ago. (megawatt smile)
Sue: And what happened? Please don’t keep me in suspense.
Garrett told you I had to transfer out of the unit, am I right? (concern smile)
Jack: Wrong again. You’re not leaving the unit. We
are all staying together. By the way, Garrett knows firsthand how valuable you are to our formidable team. Garrett told me;
as long as we keep our professional work separate from our personal relationship and it does not interfere with the cases
we work on together. Then he doesn’t see any reason why we should not continue being partners. So it looks like you’re
stuck with me. (megawatt smile and his signature wink)
Sue: Signing- Champ! Speaking- Things couldn’t be
better. You’re the best. My hero! I wouldn’t want to be stuck with anyone else as my partner. And I’m so glad I don’t have to transfer out of the unit. I guess there’s just one thing
left to do. (lighthearted smile)
Jack: I’m right here. And I’m waiting for my
kiss. (megawatt smile and raise eyebrows)
Sue: Hold that thought. When should we tell the team about
our engagement? (lighthearted smile)
Jack: Tomorrow. Come here Sue. You owe me a really long
kiss. (megawatt smile and his signature wink)
Sue: Your wish is my command, Hudson.
(dazzling smile)
Sue touches his face and then she covers his mouth with her own. Sue and Jack are wrapped up in their own paradise.
His eyes steady on hers, no words needed to be said. Jack cradles her face in his hands and kisses her slowly.
Because the love they felt was shining in their eyes and in the gentleness of their touch.
When he lifted his head, they were both out of breath. Sue makes Jack lunch and they spend the rest of the day cuddle on the
loveseat. And Sue tells Jack about her plans for their wedding day.
They agree on the official date for their
wedding, drum roll please…Jack and Sue will be married on
June 17th, 2006.
Sue goes on to tell Jack about choosing the wedding invitations, find a wedding
coordinator, booking the church, reception area, booking a hotel, picking out china, wedding photographer
& wedding video, linen napkins, flowers, music, menu, wedding cake, wedding favors for the guest, the guest
list, dinner rehearsal, her wedding gown, and most important who’s going to be in the wedding party.
By this time, his head is spinning, mind-boggling; Jack didn’t realize
there was so much stuff to consider. And not to mention there are million and one other things to accomplish before the big
day even begins. Sue made dinner for Jack and afterwards they went online to search for wedding ideas. Jack dropped Sue off
at her apartment a little after 11 PM.
He opened the car door for her, walked up to her apartment, and kissed Sue
goodnight. After Jack drove home, Sue went inside and shared the awesome news with Lucy and showed off her engagement ring.
