the kids for a change. (smile and laughs) Sue: I’m going home to visit my parents in Jack: I’m flying home to Bobby: I second that. May the New Year be brighter for all of us and hope springs eternal that someday lasting
peace will ring throughout the world above all in the Bobby: Hey, I have a sensitive side you don’t get to see very often. It only comes out during the holiday
season. (smile and laughs) D: Happy Holidays, everybody. See you all in the New Year. (smile)
Hugs all around and many goodbyes are said. As they all go back home to prepare for their
trips to see family and friends. Jack and Sue are the last ones to leave the building. Jack reminds Sue to meet him at the
At Jack’s parents’ house, Jack’s mom tells him to put Sue’s things in Meg’s old room. Meg and Matt have their own house five blocks down the street. Abby comes from the kitchen with Sarah and Tom. They rush over to hug Jack and Sue. The kids take Levi out to the backyard and play with him. After the suitcases are put away upstairs, Jack comes into the kitchen to join his family. They are eating chocolate chip banana bread. And Jack’s mom has apple cinnamon pie baking in the oven. For dinner, Jack’s mom prepared some of his favorite dishes like shrimp salad with pineapple and pecans, corn with basil butter, vegetable soup, grilled steak with cabernet, and crab stuffed mushrooms.
After dinner, Jack and
Matt clean up the kitchen. They went into the living room, Jack’s mom serve apple cinnamon pie for dessert and drink
coffee. The weather channel forecast at least 12 inches of snow for Christmas Day. Sarah and Tom are excited about getting
to play in the snow. They want to go sledding and have a snowball fight. It is getting late so everyone goes to bed. Tomorrow
morning, Jack’s mom has to prepare her Christmas Eve dinner. Before that everyone goes to Elkhorn Mills Children’s Center to spend time with the children there and give them a Christmas party. Sue wakes up and walks downstairs to the kitchen
but does not see Jack anywhere. Abby sees Sue and tells her that Jack isn’t home. He is playing Santa Claus for the
kids at Elkhorn
Mills Children’s Center. We are going over there after breakfast to watch him and help hand out Christmas presents for kids who wouldn’t
get presents at all. Meg and I dress up as Santa’s Elves every year. Jack has played Santa Claus for the past eight
years now. My dad started the tradition long ago. Sue: You mean I’m going to get to see Jack in a Santa suit with
a beard and everything? (lighthearted smile) Abby: Yeah. He has Santa’s laugh down pat. It is really entertaining to watch
him. I get a kick just hearing him say Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas! Even Sarah and Tom don’t know
that it is their Uncle Jack under the bulky red suit. (lighthearted smile and laughs) Sue: I don’t want to miss my chance to meet Santa Claus. (lighthearted
smile and laughs) Just then there’s a knock
at the door. Abby goes to open and hugs Billy. She ushers him into the house. Abby and Billy walk into the kitchen, Jack’s
mom turns around and gives Billy a hug. She says, “I’m so glad you’re here. Billy, you look taller and more
handsome every time you come to visit”. by YANNICK BISSON ONLINE
