Chapter 28:
Sue Plays The Love Game
The
last box has another note inside that says; “Go to guest bedroom one and see what else I have for you”. Sue
opens the bedroom, and there plastered on the world map; love notes pinned everywhere each with a different phrase. And conversation candy hearts are in a dish on the dresser table.
Sue counted thirty-five written
love notes on pink heart stationary and she reads them all: You are the love of my life. /
Stuck on you. / Happily Ever After! /I’ll grant you three wishes. / Dreams
come true. /My heart you have forever. / Love conquers all. / You’re the
cream in my coffee. / Let’s split a hot fudge sundae. / I love you more each day. / I miss you when we are apart. /
Happy Anniversary and many more to come! /Our first Valentine’s Day! / I’ll be waiting for you. / You make my
knees go weak. / Vive L’amour. Long live love! / Did someone want a bubble bath? / I want to spend ten forevers in a
row with you. / Slow and steady, I’m so ready to take this journey with you. /You make my heart go pitter-patter when
you walk into a room. / Will you be my forever Valentine? / My love, my soul-mate, my best friend. / Tonight I celebrate my
love for you. / We are meant to be! /Please be mine because baby I know we are a sure thing. / Hello champ, let’s kiss.
/ How do I love thee, let me count the ways. / Do you remember our first kiss? I do! / There is only you for me, no other
would do. / I cherish every moment we have together. / You’re on my mind, in my heart, in my soul. / My heart skips
a beat for you every time your eyes meet mine. / The search is over, for I have found my one true love. / Your intoxicating
smile could surely make kings go to war. / I love weddings. How about you?/
There’s yet another note and it says: “Go to guest bedroom two, open the closet and look
on the top shelf for your next gift. You are getting closer to your ultimate prize”. Sue goes straight to the closet, and looks on the top shelf and sure enough there’s
a box with her name on it. She brings the box over to the bed and opens it. There are two more boxes to unwrap.
When Sue opens the first box, underneath the tissue paper, she sees a midnight blue satin chemise with embroidery
lace and glittering sequins.
The second box she opens; eyes wide and stares at the blue thin
velvet box. Sue thinking: Oh no, he didn’t buy me the bracelet I wanted there’s no way. But then it would
be just like him.
Sue carefully
takes the blue velvet box out and then opens it and inside is the exquisite charm bracelet. The very one she looked at earlier
in the day with Jack. Sue has tears in her eyes; she is so overwhelmed right now. She wishes Jack was here so she could give
him a big kiss and hug.
When
Sue turns around, she notices for the first time there are two fake palm trees, a beach blanket, a projector and blue screen
with images of sandy beach and rolling surf in the corner of the room. This creates the illusion of being far away on an exotic
beach. The note
on the projector says; “Guess what, Sue you’ve been paged”.
Then Sue reads the message
on her Blackberry. “Sorry, I can’t take you away to a paradise island at the moment. And thanks for playing my
love game. Your prize, drum roll please…It’s gonna be me. Please wear your bracelet and follow the trail of rose
petals straight to where I am waiting for you. Love, Jack Hudson”.
At
this exact moment, Jack is outside standing next to a sleek black stretch limousine with six long stem red roses in his hand.
Inside the house, Sue puts the bracelet on her wrist and walks out the room. Sure enough from the guest bedroom to the hallway
there are thousands of rose petals sprinkled on the floor leading the way downstairs to her man.
When
Sue opens the front door and sees Jack in his black tuxedo, standing next to a limousine, she is stunned. Jack smiles and
makes his way over to Sue.
First, he gives her the six long stem red roses. Then Jack pulls Sue into his arms for a
lengthy kiss. After Jack releases Sue, he takes a moment to gaze at Sue appreciatively.
Jack: Signing-Wow! Speaking-You take my breath away. I mean you look like a million
bucks. I am so glad you are my Valentine. (megawatt smile and his signature wink)
Sue: Signing- Thank you. Speaking-You look
dashing yourself. Where might we be going and where’s the dinner you promise me? (smile and with a little curtsy)
Jack: I’ll tell you on the way. My
darling, your limousine awaits you. (megawatt smile and his signature wink)
Jack opens the limo door for Sue
and helps her get inside. They are sitting on black leather seats with champagne and soft music playing. The chauffeur knows
where to go. Sue looks out the window as the scenery passes them by.
