Chapter 7: Target Viper In the conference room, mid-afternoon Jack: In this manila folder are mug-shots of some very bad men. We think one of them might be “Viper”.
We need you to tell us which one he is.
Candice looks at all of the mug-shots. Jack is frustrated because Candice does not
seem to know any of the men in the photographs. Down to the last two mug-shots, they hit pay-dirt. That is the man who calls
himself “Viper”.
Jack: Are you absolutely sure about this? (smile) Candice: Yes. That’s him. I’ve seen him at the nightclub many times. He touched me inappropriately
twice. I hate him but I am also afraid of him. Jack: You don’t have to be afraid of him anymore. He’s not going to hurt you ever again. I’m
going to make sure of that. (smile) Back at the bullpen Jack: Boys, say hello to “Viper” a.k.a. Giuseppe Del Marco. Bobby: That gives new meaning to the term all in the family. Jack: I know. Now all the puzzle pieces seem to fit together. I want a surveillance team outside King Cobra Nightclub at all
times. I want to know who goes in and out of that club 24/7. When we catch sight of Giuseppe Del Marco, we move in on our
target.
D: So now we wait until Giuseppe Del Marco shows up for our trap. I hate to say this but we might need to
use Candice to lure him out in the open. Diane: I don’t think we need to use Candice for our trap. It was appalling what he made her do on the
videotape. She’s been through enough already. Jack: Diane’s right. We have to use one of our female agents to draw Giuseppe out in the open. Before
he knows it, we’ll have him in custody. (smile) Bobby: Pamela Walsh in white-collar division might be able to pull this off. We just need her to look like
Candice for a few minutes. If she wears a wig, he won’t be able tell the difference. (smile) Myles: At least until it’s too late for him to do anything about it. D: Pamela would need to wear a body wire so we can tape the conversation. Jack: It’s a good plan. I’ll talk to Garrett and set things in motion. If all goes well, we can
put the plan in action when SOG has Giuseppe in our containment zone. (smile) Bullpen meeting, late evening
Jack: Okay. Garrett signed off on the sting.
But we have a problem. Pamela Walsh is on vacation. So we need to find another agent to take her place.
Diane: Hey guys, what about me? I’ll
wear a wig and body wire. And hopefully knock some sense into him. (smile)
Bobby: Not a bad idea. Are you sure you’re up to the challenge? (smile)
Diane: Of course I am. It’s the thrill
of the chase. It’s why I do my job. (smile)
Jack: No way. You’re not going undercover.
Like I said, I will find another female FBI agent to do this job. You’ve done your part now let me take care of the
rest. (smile)
Diane: Does Agent Hudson always act this stubborn? (smile)
Bobby: Yes. Sparky has always been very stubborn. (laughs)
Myles: It’s one of the reasons why we love him so. (laughs)
Jack: Make fun of me all you want. We are not using you as bait to lure Giuseppe out in the open. Forget about it. I’m not changing my mind. (smile)
Diane: I know that you know that I’m right. And I am the only person who can take Candice’s place without making Giuseppe suspicious. I also know before anything goes wrong, you and your team will be there to catch him in the act. (smile)
Jack: I have the final say here, Diane. And
I say; you are unequivocally not coming with us. End of discussion. (megawatt smile)
Diane: You win. Would you mind telling me which
female agent is going to play the part of an up-and-coming porn star for Giuseppe Del Marco? (rolling eyes at Jack and laughs)
Jack: I haven’t figured that out yet.
But that’s not your concern. You and Candice will stay here with Tara, Emma, Jenny, Sue, and Lucy when our “sting”
goes down. (megawatt smile)
Diane: It’s a good thing we don’t work together all the time Agent Hudson. Otherwise, I would have to wring your neck on a daily basis. I don’t know how you three ladies put up with him. (smile, rolling eyes at Jack, and laughs) Sue: Actually, I’ve learned a lot in spite of Jack’s stubbornness. (smile,
teases Jack, and laughs)
Lucy: Awe…that’s what you get for being irresistible. (smile)
Jack: Now that you’ve all had your fun.
Let’s get back to the business at hand. Diane, I need you to bring your task-force up to speed, so they will be ready
to go when I give the signal. (megawatt smile)
Bobby: We still need an undercover female agent and none of our ladies here are allowed
to do the job because Prince Jack said so. And you know; we all bow to Prince Jack. (laughs and teases Jack)
Jack: Here’s a lovely idea. Why don’t
you ladies go out to dinner? In the meantime, boys, we need to discuss choke-points. (megawatt smile) Bobby: I have a better idea. Let’s order pizza. Then we can hammer out the rest
of the details. (smile) Myles: Good idea. Does that mean you’re buying for everyone? (smile) Bobby: Well, technically it was Sparky’s idea. So it’s his turn to pay. (smile
and laughs) Jack: Fine. Pizza is on me tonight. (smile) D: How many boxes do we need to order? I’m starving. Lucy: This is the best pizza I have ever eaten. Sue: Yeah. It is so much fun hanging out with everyone here. D: Thanks for the pizza, Jack. But I’m ready to call it a night. I want to head
home and hug my family. Jack: Okay. Big D. Thanks for staying late. See you tomorrow. Bobby: Yep. I promise Darcy I would give her a call. Goodnight, everyone. Everyone gets up and throws the empty pizza boxes in
the trash bins. Myles, Lucy, Sue, and Levi say goodnight and head home. Candice is still staying at Diane’s place. After
they leave, Jack leaves the office with Tara and Emma. Jenny is sleeping soundly in her car seat.
When she opens her front door, she gasps. The place
is a mess, the couch is slashed; someone broke in her house again looking for something. But At the same time, Jack calls Bobby and tells him to
get ERT over to
Jack flips the first ledger open and peruses some of the entries. Jack and Tara exchange looks and realizes why her place was such a mess tonight. Whoever broke in, probably Del Marco’s henchmen wanted to find these ledgers and discard them before Jack’s team found the books. But Emma was smart enough to keep the ledgers with Jenny’s baby things. Jack has the smoking gun he has been looking for. Because there is enough documented evidence of corruption inside these four ledgers to put Alfonso Del Marco away for life. Only one problem, his team needs to find Alfonso Del Marco before the elusive man jet sets out of the country never to be heard from again. |
