Chapter
29: Waiting At The Altar
Jack all decked out in his black tuxedo with white shirt, black
bow tie, matching cummerbund, and silver (JSH) cufflinks. Jack takes his place
in front of the altar with Bobby standing beside him as his best man. Bruce, Trent, and Chris are the groomsmen standing next
to Bobby. The organist launched into the wedding march. The service is about to begin.
Jack tried to picture how his bride would look, to imagine how Sue could be any
more beautiful on their wedding day than she always was to him each day. But nothing he envisioned even came close to the
sight as he caught a glimpse of his bride. Sue stood at the back of the church with her father waiting her turn.
His bride, Sue was dressed in an elegant wedding gown. The white silk princess-cut gown decorated with
beaded satin rosebuds sequins on bodice and sheer cap sleeves leads to a sweetheart neckline accentuated with intricate Venise
lace. Basque waistline has an overlay of embroidered flowers.
This design features full A-line satin faced organza highlighted with gold beaded embroidery
front sheath. Open v-back with sheer beaded lace inset finished off with a flowing semi-cathedral detachable train.
Jack’s nephew, Tom in his adorable black tuxedo held on tightly to the
satin pillow bearing the wedding rings and smiled at Jack when he reached the altar. Jack’s niece, Sarah wearing a pretty
soft pink satin short sleeve dress and bodice studded with tiny pearls along with flower appliqués on tulle skirt. She held
onto her flower basket and proceeds to drop silk ivory, red, and pink rose petals down the aisle as she reached the altar.
The organ music swelled; one bridesmaid after another made her entrance
and reached the altar. Abby, Tara, and Joanna were all dressed in spaghetti straps, A-line electric blue chiffon bridesmaid
gowns. Each carried a bouquet of white and red chrysanthemums, pink carnations, apple blossoms, and white daisies. Lucy, Sue’s
maid of honor is dressed in spaghetti straps, A-line lavender chiffon gown and walked towards the altar with her bouquet. In the back
of the church, Sue’s mom adjusted her understated stylish shoulder length pearl headband satin veil before going to
the front pew usher by Dimitrius.
As the sun shone through the stain-glass windows and Sue passed by
every pew, each guest smiled at her warmly. The entire church was filled to capacity with family and friends. It was to say
the least a bit overwhelming and her heart slammed into overdrive. Then Sue had eyes only for Jack
who was standing in front of the altar. Jack looks so handsome in his black tuxedo.
Sue’s
Dad: If I’m not mistaken, it’s time for us to go. The wedding march is starting up now. Be happy, angel. I love
you, Sue. (smile)
Sue: I’ve
never been happier in my entire life. After all, I’m about to marry the man of my dreams. I’ve been waiting my
whole life for this. (radiant smile)
Sue’s
Dad: Jack is a fine young man and it’s plain to see that he adores you. (smile)
Sue’s father held out his arm, she linked hers through his, father and blushing bride walk towards
the altar. At the same moment, Jack held his breath as Sue appear just like a princess out of his dreams and walk down the
aisle towards him. Jack could only stare at her radiant smile and a feeling of pure contentment stole through him. His jaw
drop open as Sue came closer and closer.
Sue carried her wedding bouquet full of white gardenias, red roses, white chrysanthemums, baby’s
breath, blue violet, and white lilies. She caught sight of her groom’s gaze and knew her bright future was about to
begin with the man she loves. Sue looks strikingly beautiful, once again momentarily taking his breath away.
When they reached Jack’s side, her father bent to kissed Sue on the cheek, and then placed
her hand in Jack’s. Father of the bride and Jack held gazes for just a minute and then he moved to take a seat beside
Sue’s mom who smiled with tears in her eyes.
Jack took her hand, linking their fingers together as they stood next to each other ready to say “I
do”. It was hard for Jack to resist not lifting her veil and kissing Sue
right at that moment. Instead he drank her in, from head to toe, it was in a word, indescribable feeling and of course Levi
saved the day. Because when Levi saw Sue, he started barking and had everyone in the church laughing.
Jack and Sue gazed longingly into each other’s
eyes and smiled. Jack’s eyes shone with so much love for Sue; it made her
knees weak. The same radiant glow in her eyes told Jack everything he needed to know.
