Chapter 28: Dinner Cruise Ends
Jack: That my dear is your department. Whenever you want to
get married is fine with me. I suggest sooner rather than later though. You plan the wedding of your dreams and all I have
to do is show up at the altar and say I do. (megawatt smile, laughs, and teases Sue)
Sue: Does that mean you don’t want to help me with our
wedding plans? I’m not letting you off the hook that easy. (lighthearted smile, laughs, and teases Jack)
Jack: Okay. To be fair, I will take care of our honeymoon destination.
You have the option of planning your dream wedding with your family, my family, and all our friends to help you out or might
I suggest another idea. (megawatt smile and raise eyebrows)
Sue: Okay. I’ll bite. What’s your brilliant idea?
(lighthearted smile and laughs)
Jack: We could fly to Las Vegas tomorrow, get married, go on
our honeymoon and two weeks later come back and then tell everyone the good news. In fact, I have two tickets to Las Vegas
in my pocket; if you want to leave right now? (megawatt smile, teases Sue, and raise eyebrows)
Sue: Appealing as that offer is, I’m afraid I have to
decline. And please tell me you are kidding about the plane tickets? We are not getting married in Las Vegas. My mother and your mother will never forgive us. (lighthearted smile and laughs)
Jack: Okay. It was worth a shot. I didn’t book tickets
to Las Vegas because I knew you would never go for it. And
I want you to have your dream wedding right here with our family and friends to celebrate with us. (megawatt smile and his
signature wink)
Sue: Which means, I have a wedding to plan. I have to call
my parents, you have to call your parents, we have to tell the team, and there are a million other things I have to do. (nervous
smile)
Jack: Whoa. Slow down. Sue, we have plenty of time tomorrow
to figure out all the details, when, where, and all that other stuff. Right now, let’s focus on us, tonight is Valentine’s
Day after all, we should make the most of it. (megawatt smile and his signature wink)
Sue is about to say something else but Jack covered her mouth with his. And she forgot what
she was about to say. They danced for two more hours to their Greatest Love Songs compilation CD;
“I Knew I Loved You”, “The Search
Is Over”, “Valentine”, “ I Cross My Heart”, “All My Roads”, “Right Here Waiting”, “From This Moment On”, “Almost Paradise”, “Heaven
In Your Eyes’, “The Gift”, “What The Heart Wants”, “All My Life”, “Two Less
Lonely People”, “I Could Not Ask For More”, “I’m Already Gone”, “Like I Never Loved
Before”, “The Edge Of Forever”, “Now & Forever”, “Your Love”, “Blue Hawaii”,
“Because You Loved Me”, “For The First Time”, and “Keeper Of The Stars”.
The Spirit of Washington docked and they walk back to the limousine. The chauffeur drops them off at Jack’s
house. They carry their souvenir package from the dinner cruise. Jack opens the
front door and then locks it behind him.
He
takes her hand and leads her up to his master bedroom. Before he opens the bedroom door Jack asks Sue to close her eyes. They
enter and he touches the remote, now their special CD is playing.
Then
Jack goes to light all the candles around the room. He takes the strawberry and chocolate dip out of the mini-fridge and puts
it on the breakfast tray. When Sue opened her eyes and looks around the room, a few hundreds of rose petals are scattered
on the bed, she is thunderstruck. Jack pops the cork on the Chardonnay bottle and pours two glasses. He hands one flute to
Sue and the other one he holds in his hands.
Jack
makes a toast: “To my wonderful Sue. You have my heart
forever. Our new life awaits us. Cheers, my darling”.
They clink flutes and tears are streaming down her face. Jack takes the glass out of her hand and puts it on the
dresser table. He pulls her into his arms and kisses her softly. They sit on the bed and he feeds her one chocolate covered
strawberry. Then she feeds him with one chocolate covered strawberry. After finishing off the strawberries and more kissing,
hugging, and laughing, Jack tells Sue he has something to confess.
