Sue gives
Jack his fifth present. Jack opens the box and finds two picture frames called the “double happiness”.
This lucky symbol of prosperity is etched in gold at the top of a shiny cast-aluminum frame which includes a
picture of Jack & Sue on their wedding day.
Another
“double happiness” frame has a picture of them on their honeymoon. Sue chose her favorite picture of Jack on the
left side and her favorite picture of herself on the right side with the “double happiness” symbol right in the
middle. The double happiness symbol is formed by doubling the character for happiness.
In the
Chinese tradition this is a classic symbol used to wish newlyweds happiness in their new life together. It is also used to
wish newlyweds good fortune and continue marital bliss. This symbol represents the universal need for equality, harmony, and
balance in all marriages.
Jack gives Sue his six present. Sue opens the box and reads the poem laser engraved on the
top of the cherry jewelry box which features red velvet lined compartments for earrings, rings, necklaces, and other jewelry;
along with hidden solid brass hinges.
Here’s what the poem
says: My darling Sue;
I wonder if you know that
our love is an unfinished masterpiece. You make me fall in love with you in a hundred different ways.
So I
ask myself this question: How do I begin to tell you how lucky I am to have you in my life? I’ll start by saying what an honor it is
for me to be your husband. One year ago, you gave me a rare gift; you became my wife.
You’re
my best friend in the good times and my rock in times of need. You’re the reason for sweet yesterdays and promise for
brighter tomorrows. I didn't think that I could love you more than I did on our wedding day, but little did I know that in
sharing our special hopes and dreams together, my love for you grows beyond measure.

Thomas, in case you didn’t know it already, you are the best part of my day. You are the song that makes my heart sing.
I am so thankful for your love and all the joy you bring.
Each
morning as I awaken you’re the reason I smile, you’re the reason I love life. You are so much a part of me. I
cannot imagine my life without you. And I know we'll stand the test of time.

Sue gives Jack his six present. Jack opens the gift and finds an original
scrapbook completely hand-bound in ruby red silk and tied with a satin cord. He flips the book open and reads a love letter
from Sue. Along with a dozen other ways to say I love you.
Looking through the other pages there are more written comments and to list a few of the categories;
top five songs that make me think of you...I have always admired the way you... My favorite way to spend a day with you
is... Cross my heart, I keep this promise to you...
On the last page is a picture of them dancing for the
very first time as husband and wife. Acid free pages help to preserve the photos
and expressions of love.
Here’s
the poem: My darling Jack;
You are my safe haven, the place I run to when the world gets to be too much. For so many
years, I have been so lonely, longing to find someone to love me for who I am.
Unexpectedly, you appeared and carried me away to your castle. It seemed that I was so unlucky
in love until fate brought us together. The first time you looked into my eyes. I knew right there that you’re the one
I want to grow old with for all time.
In an instant, you changed everything and turned my world around. I
love your sense of humor and your engaging smile.
I ask myself so how could a girl like me resist your charms? There is no answer except this. My dreams lie within
your heart. So now when we’re not together, I feel so incomplete.
The only place I want to be is in your reassuring arms. I love you more than I can put into words. I love you in every single way possible. I love “us” so very
much. You bring so much happiness to my life.
Beyond any doubt, I am so honored to be known as your wife. Your proposal was so very romantic upon bended knee on
board the Spirit of Washington.
I still
can’t believe my good fortune to have found my soul-mate in you. Our wedding day was in a word magical, it was in fact
my finest day ever on this earth. And I want you to know I will love you for now and always, and yes I have one final thought.

if you weren't here with me today. I will always try to find words to thank you
for fulfilling our dreams and sharing beautiful memories. I will always be here to love you the way you deserve to be loved.

Next to the verse on the right-hand side is their wedding picture with Jack in his superb black tux and Sue
in her glamorous white wedding gown standing at the altar after their wedding ceremony.
Sue wrapped her arms around his neck. He covered his mouth over
hers and kissed her deeply. When he smiled at her the way he is right now, it still sends her heart into overdrive even after
one blissful year of marriage. And she knew she would always feel this way.
