Baby Shower Surprise
Jack thought of a surprise that would make Sue very happy. Jack talked to Lucy about
throwing a baby shower for Sue tomorrow afternoon. Lucy and the other ladies will come over and have the baby shower downstairs
in the living room. Meanwhile, Jack invited Dimitrius, Bobby, and Myles over to help him decorate the nursery and told them
to bring pizza. Sue grumble about having to take another nap but she was feeling more tired lately so she went upstairs to
rest for a while.
Lucy and Tara decorated the living room with balloons and colorful streamers.
Tara brought
chocolate cake for dessert and made a sign that says; “Welcome To Your Baby Shower”. The coffee table is soon filled with presents and baby toys after Donna, Darcy, Emma,
and other FBI female co-workers arrive for the party. Half an hour later, Sue woke up and went downstairs and saw Lucy, Tara,
Donna, and everyone else gathered in her living room. Sue sits down on the couch with her feet prop up and a glass of milk
in her hand. She’s having the time of her life opening baby presents and talking to her friends.
Sue: Hi everyone. What are you all doing
here? (radiant smile)
Lucy: We wanted you to have a baby shower.
So sit down and relax mom-to-be. We are going to have a fun party, just us girls. (smile)
Sue: Sounds good to me. Was this your
idea, Lucy? (radiant smile)
Lucy: I would like to take credit for
this. But it was Jack’s idea. He thought you would like some quality girl-talk time. We also bought lots of baby presents
for the twins. (smile)
Sue: That is so thoughtful of you. I think
we have more than enough baby furniture and baby things after today is over with. Let’s start the baby shower. (radiant
smile)
Tara: These baby toys look so cute I couldn’t decide
which ones to buy so I bought more than a few of them for the twins. Aren’t these baby booties adorable? I saw them
and could not resist buying them for your twins. (smile)
Sue: Thanks Tara.
I love these baby booties. Jack bought a ton of stuff for our twins already. In my spare time, I could actually open my own
baby boutique with everything that has been given to me. (radiant smile)
Emma: I know you are going to need a bunch
of this stuff. Baby wipes come in handy. Don’t forget to bulk up on diapers. (smile and laughs)
Sue: Thanks, Emma. I appreciate all the
help I can get. (concern smile)
Donna: If you need any advice I’m
just a phone call away. Babies love colorful mobiles hanging in their cribs. I bought two of them. (smile)
Sue: I have your number on speed-dial
on my Blackberry, Donna. Thanks for the presents, everyone. I love them all and I know the twins are going to enjoy them too. Let’s eat. It seems I’m always starving. (radiant smile and laughs)
Donna: That’s a fact of life when
you’re pregnant. Men have it so easy. (smile and laughs)
Sue: You know, Jack with all his endearing
traits for the past couple of weeks has started to really annoy me. (laughs) I mean, he pampers me all the time, waits on
me hand and foot, and tells me to stay in bed. And now, he goes and plans this baby surprise shower for me. He never ceases
to amaze me. (glowing smile)
Tara: I think every woman in America wants
to clone Jack Hudson after hearing that statement. Why that man is positively
a saint. (lighthearted smile and laughs)
Lucy: Well, you can’t be mad at
Jack anymore. I think it’s sweet that he cares so much. I say let him spoil you. I only wish there will more men out
there who show consideration for women half as much as Jack does. (smile)
Donna: It’s true. You have trained
Jack very well. Let him indulge you now because once the twins are here. Everything is going to change. You will wish that
he took time to fuss over you. So just enjoy this time with him. (cheerful smile and laughs)
The guys knocked on the kitchen door and Jack let them in that
way so they would not interrupt the baby shower ongoing in the living room. They went upstairs and into the nursery and put
four pizza boxes, and one box of soda cans down on the table. He held out a roll of paper and looked puzzled for just a minute.
Then Jack climbs up on the ladder, and hangs a strip of pink bunnies and teddy bears wallpaper on the wall. Dimitrius, Bobby,
and Myles started to hang wallpaper as well.
Jack managed to hang a dozen strips of wallpaper but still not enough to finish one side. Then Dimitrius and
Myles pushed him out of the way to complete that wall. So Bobby and Jack tackled the next wall hanging additional pink bunnies
and teddy bears. On the other two walls, the four guys hang hockey pucks and airplanes. Jack thinking: It gets easier
once you get the hang of hanging wallpaper.
After that was done, they painted the baby playroom with the colors that Sue selected the other
day. Yesterday afternoon while Sue took her nap, Jack assembled the two cribs with matching dressers.
It was evening when the nursery and baby playroom were completed. Then Jack set the cribs next to each other in the nursery.
He stood back and admired his handiwork. Not bad for a day’s work.
